Bvlgari watch company presented a collection of impressive high-end jewelry watches, including an unusual and unique watch with a secret. A pair of men’s watches Moneteattracted the attention of the brand’s fans.
The watch industry is known to be quite conservative and traditional. But it also has its quirks and eccentricities, which many do not understand, but which some collectors love. Among them are erotic watches and automatons. There are also coin watches, a niche type of watch that attracts the attention of collectors on the market, such as Corum. Bvlgari is no stranger to using coins as jewelry.

The great-grandson of Bvlgari’s founder began collecting antique coins in the late 1960s to create the iconic Monete collection. The use of coins in watches was a natural evolution, but it had to be interpreted in the Italian, high Bvlgari style, so that no silver dollar coins on the dial would be expected.

The new Bvlgari Octo Roma Monete Skeleton Tourbillon is special, unique, bold and not everyone will like it. And that’s great. The new Monete watch series is based on the Octo Roma case with an excellent ultra-thin movement with a tourbillon inside.

The watch is based on the iconic Octo case, which is already a direct reference to ancient Roman culture. The octagon is a recurring motif of ancient architecture and art, which can still be seen in many of Rome’s most beautiful monuments. The case has a diameter of 44 mm. It had to be expanded slightly to accommodate the large coin covering the dial. The coin acts as a cover for the watch case.

Inside the case, hidden by the coin, is the Finissimo Skeleton Hand-Wound Tourbillon mechanism, the thinnest of its kind, with a profile of only 1.95 mm. In other models equipped with this mechanism, you can also see a floating tourbillon located at 6 o’clock. The time is indicated using the hour and minute hands corresponding to the case material.

The highlight of the watch, of course, is the coin and the image on it. For Bvlgari, Italian culture and Ancient Rome are sources of inspiration. The concept was to create something modern along with timeless.
Bvlgari uses coins that are almost 2,000 years old in the new watch. The relief depicts Emperor Constans, one of the sons of Constantine the Great, who ruled Rome and the western provinces of the empire. The reverse side depicts Concordia, or the harmony of three brothers who ruled peacefully for many years. It’s a real piece of history that you can wear on your wrist. The Roman heritage is embodied in the Bvlgari Octo Roma Monete watch. In total, two unique units of the watch will be made, one in 18k rose gold and the other in 950 platinum, priced at 530,000 Swiss francs and 550,000 Swiss francs, respectively.
