Richard Mille has introduced a new look at the unique women’s sapphire watch Gemset Sapphire RM 07-02. The transparent case has a blue tint. This is not the first time that Richard Mille has used sapphire, but it is the first time that a sapphire case has been encrusted with diamonds.
Creating a sapphire case is not an easy task, as each one is made from a single sapphire block. According to the brand, the process takes 40 days. Compared to TPT carbon, commonly used by Richard Mille, or even ceramics, it takes almost twice as long to process, research, and produce a sapphire case. Part of the lengthy process involves carving 12 niches for the gold prongs that hold a row of diamonds around the perimeter of the case.

Each dial has a unique stone, depending on the color of the case. For example, in the blue sapphire case, the dial is made of white mother–of–pearl, in the green version it is made of jade, and in the pink version it is jasper. The transparent case is designed to draw attention to the movement. The CRMA5 automatic calibre uses a variable rotor geometry (that is, it can be adjusted depending on the wearer’s activity level). The balance frequency of the mechanism is 28,800 pcs/hour, with a power reserve of 50 hours. The novelty is equipped with a rubber strap with a titanium buckle.
