Breitling watchmaking is famous for its outstanding chronographs, because it was she who invented the modern chronograph. And now Breitling presents a unique watch with an unusual look at one of the most complex watch functions. The Breitling Navitimer 1 B03 Rattrapante 45 Boutique Edition is based on a unique split chronograph mechanism with two second hands. This mechanism is protected by two patents, and it features an innovative design that ensures maximum accuracy, efficiency, and reliability.
The split chronograph is one of the most complex watch functions among all watchmaking mechanisms. It uses two superimposed central chronograph hands, which allows you to simultaneously measure two elapsed time periods. The new Breitling Navitimer 1 B03 Rattrapante 45 Boutique Edition features several additional solutions, making this particular watch the most anticipated model. This watch, which will become a collector’s item, will be released in a limited edition of 250 copies. The model will be available exclusively at 70 Breitling branded boutiques worldwide.

The Navitimer 1 B03 Rattrapante 45 Boutique Edition model impresses both aesthetically and with its technical complexity. The watch is housed in a large stainless steel case with a diameter of 45 mm, the dial is made in Stratos Gray, and the hands and hour markings are coated with Super-LumiNova® technology to ensure easy reading in all lighting conditions. This watch features a bidirectional bezel with a round slide rule, which is a distinctive feature of the Navitimer range.
The Navitimer 1 B03 Rattrapante 45 Boutique Edition has another exquisite detail. Breitling Navitimer watches usually feature a stylized “B” logo with an anchor adorning the base of the chronograph hands. But there is an interesting detail in this model – the logo is divided between two arrows. The symbol “B” is placed on the red hand of the chronograph, while the anchor is depicted on the split hand. As a result, these two elements of the logo are separated if the split hand is stopped, and reconnect when the chronograph hands are aligned.

The watch is powered by a Breitling Manufacture Caliber B03 movement with a power reserve of at least 70 hours and is certified by the Swiss Institute for Official Chronograph Testing (COSC). You can take them off your hand after work on Friday (although you probably won’t want to take them off), and on Monday morning they will work just as perfectly..br> The split arrow button placed at the 3 o’clock position serves to stop and restart the split arrow any number of times. once during a time measurement, allowing the user to measure intermediate time intervals or compare the results of several participants in a competition.
Only a few watch brands can boast of their own chronograph mechanisms. And only a few offer their own patented split chronograph mechanisms, designed and manufactured by their own specialists. By introducing the Breitling Manufacture Caliber B03 movement to the market, Breitling has once again confirmed its status as a leader in the field of mechanical chronographs.
With two superimposed central chronograph hands, one of which can be stopped to measure the intermediate time (split intervals) before catching up (fr. “rattraper”) readings of the second hand, the split chronograph is considered one of the most complex watchmaking mechanisms. Accordingly, such “grand complications”, that is, mechanisms with very complex watch functions, are usually made in small batches and require watchmakers to make lengthy adjustments and adjustments (setting the correct gap between the split-hand wheel and the gear, adjusting the tension of the springs, the degree of penetration of the clamps, etc.).
By developing its own split chronograph mechanism based on the well-proven Breitling Manufacture Caliber 01, Breitling has taken an innovative approach to ensure stability, accuracy and reliability, and has developed a system that provides optimal technical performance with a minimum number of components. Indeed, the mechanism of this split chronograph consists of only 28 parts. In addition, by developing the manufacturing technology, Breitling managed to eliminate the lengthy setup process. Finding a simple and effective solution to a complex problem required several years of research and testing, but the result was worth it.
