Breitling Navitimer 806 1959 Re-Edition

Breitling has introduced a very accurate reissue of the 1959 Navitimer model. This is not just a watch with vintage elements in the design, inspired by something from the past, it is almost an exact replica. The design of the classic Navitimer is recognizable to the brand’s fans. It is an iconic commander’s watch due to its appearance, which combines a chronograph with a slide rule on a rotating bezel. Pilots can use this scale to manually calculate many useful data, such as fuel consumption or air distribution.

The details related to the original range from plexiglass glass to the exact number of beads on the bezel (94 pieces). The embossed bezel surface, designed to comfortably grip the bezel and use a slide rule, varied significantly from model to model, from year to year, from 125 beads in the 1950s to 93 in 1960.

In the new model Breitling Navitimer 806 1959 Re-Edition uses a new manual winding movement – B09 caliber, chronograph with COSC chronometer certificate. Since this is a reissue of historical watches that predate the advent of the automatic chronograph, a manual winding movement seems like a logical choice.

The new watch is almost a complete copy of the original from 1959. In fact, Breitling claims that the only hint of modernity is the increased water resistance to 30 meters and the use of Superluminova instead of radium. The back cover of the watch is solid, which corresponds to the design of watches of that period. The watch was released in a limited edition of 1959 pieces.
