Jewelry buyout in Moscow — an appraisal from photos in minutes, payment the same day

Privilegia pawnshop buys jewelry in gold, platinum and silver from the world's leading houses: Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Tiffany & Co., Bvlgari, Graff, Chopard and others.

We appraise the whole piece: the metal by net weight and hallmark, diamonds and colored stones by the characteristics of each stone, and the brand by its demand on the secondary market. That is fundamentally different from buying by scrap weight, where only the grams of metal are counted.

An online appraisal from photos in minutes through the messenger you prefer, a deal in 15–30 minutes at our office, and payment in cash with no cap on the amount on the day you come in.

Two ways to sell a piece of jewelry

The owner of a piece can choose between:

• a direct buyout: money straight away, with the price fixed on the day you come in,

• a consignment sale: the piece is sold through our showcase and catalog, you receive more, but you wait for a buyer.

Both options go through exactly the same examination. What differs is when you are paid, and how much.

Direct buyout
  • Speed: 15–45 minutes at our office.
  • Price: up to 90% of the current secondary-market value.
  • Payment: cash with no cap on the amount, on the day you come in.
  • Best when: you need the money now and do not plan to wear the piece.

Consignment sale
  • Speed: from two weeks to several months.
  • Price: higher than a direct buyout (you receive the sale price less our commission).
  • Payment: after the piece is sold to a buyer.
  • Best when: the sale is not urgent, or the piece is a rare one.

How the buyout price of a piece of jewelry is calculated

The buyout price is made up of three parts: the value of the metal by net weight, the value of the stones by their characteristics, and a brand premium if the piece is liquid on the secondary market. We check precious metal quotes against the Bank of Russia reference price daily, so yesterday's appraisal and today's may differ. Important: the secondary-market price is not the boutique price. The retail price of a branded piece includes the house's markup, logistics and VAT — on the secondary market that part does not exist. We work from the real resale price and always show you how it adds up.

Metal, hallmark and net weight

We count not the gross weight of the piece but the weight of the metal, less stones, solder and fillers. The hallmark is confirmed with an X-ray fluorescence analyzer, which reads the composition of the alloy throughout its volume rather than only at the surface. Gold-plated silver and electroplated pieces are exposed by that test immediately.

Diamonds and precious stones

Diamonds are graded on carat weight, color, clarity, cut and fluorescence. For colored stones the decisive factors are origin — a Colombian emerald, a Burmese ruby, a Kashmir sapphire — and whether the stone has been treated.

Brand and collection

Cartier Love, Van Cleef Alhambra, Tiffany Setting and Bvlgari Serpenti hold steady demand on the secondary market and are valued well above the sum of their metal and stones. A piece from an unnamed workshop with the same characteristics is valued at the cost of its materials.

Condition and integrity

We take into account wear on the band, the state of the setting and prongs, the integrity of the clasps, traces of repairs with non-original alloys, re-soldering and resizing. Rhodium plating on white gold is easy to renew and barely affects the price. A loose setting or a cracked stone does.

Full set and documents

The tag, the case, the warranty card and the boutique receipt confirm the provenance of a branded piece. A GIA, IGI or HRD certificate makes a stone-set piece easier to appraise and speeds up the deal: there is no need to allow time for a separate gemological examination.

Current quotes and liquidity

Precious metal quotes are updated daily. A piece that was worth one sum six months ago may be worth noticeably more or less today, regardless of how it looks. We name the price for the day you come in and hold it for that day.

The difference between Privilegia, a cash-for-gold shop and a private buyer

There are three ways to sell a piece of jewelry. The difference is less about speed than about what is actually being bought from you: the whole piece, or only its metal.

How to sell a piece of jewelry in four steps

From the online appraisal to cash in hand: between five minutes and an hour.
1. Online appraisal
(5–10 minutes)
Send photos of the piece through your preferred messenger or the form on this site. A few shots are enough: the piece itself, plus any documents or certificate. Our expert will name a preliminary price range.
2. Visit to our office We are at 30 Kutuzovsky Prospekt, with city parking right by the entrance. No appointment is needed, but if you call ahead we will have the right equipment ready for your type of piece.
3. In-person examination
(15–45 minutes)
Weighing on calibrated scales, reading the purity on a spectrometer, checking the hallmarks and the maker's mark under a microscope, grading the stones with a gemologist, verifying serial numbers and certificates. It all happens at the table in the meeting room, with you present.
4. Signing the contract
and payment
A sale and purchase agreement with sole proprietor N. V. Bayandurova in two copies, one of which stays with you. Payment in cash, with no cap on the amount.

How the buyout is documented

A jewelry buyout is a final sale and purchase between a private individual (the seller) and a sole proprietor (the buyer) under Russian law. The piece becomes our property, the money becomes yours, and neither side carries any further obligation. If you want to keep the option of getting the piece back, that is a jewelry-backed loan — a different service.
Legal entity
Sole proprietor N. V. Bayandurova, OGRNIP 319774600359848. The details can be checked in the public register of the Federal Tax Service.
Contract
A sale and purchase agreement in two copies, one of which stays with the seller.
Payment
In cash at our office, with no cap on the amount.
Security at the office
A private meeting room, CCTV and on-site security.

Why people come to us to sell jewelry

Selling jewelry is almost always a decision with a story behind it. Below are four typical situations people come to us with.
An inheritance
An inheritance
The jewelry was inherited from relatives and the owner does not plan to wear it. The boxes and papers had not survived, so the final appraisal came out 15% lower.
A gift that is not their style
A gift that is not their style
The piece was a gift, but it does not suit the owner in style or size. As a rule this is a new item with the full set — tag, box and receipt. These are the cases where we pay the most relative to the original purchase price.
Refreshing a collection
Refreshing a collection
The owner is selling one piece to buy another: a larger stone, a different house, a different collection. What matters here is the market price, speed and confidentiality.
A major purchase
A major purchase
Selling jewelry to close a deal on property, a car or a business. A single payment on the day of the visit is critical, with no cap on the amount and no waiting for a buyer.

What our clients say

Frequently asked questions about selling jewelry in Moscow

Answers about prices, stone grading, documents and the legal side of selling jewelry.
What do you pay per gram for 585 (14K) gold?
The price per gram is tied to the Bank of Russia reference price for the day and changes daily, so there is no fixed figure on this site — any published number would be out of date within 24 hours. We will quote today's price by phone or messenger in a minute. And if the piece is branded or set with stones, it is almost always worth more than the sum of its grams.
Where is the best place in Moscow to sell a gold ring with a diamond?
Wherever the diamond is appraised separately from the metal. An ordinary cash-for-gold shop deducts the stone from the weight and pays nothing for it: you are paid for the gold alone. We grade the stone by carat, color, clarity and cut and include it in the price. On a ring with a stone of half a carat or more, the difference is several-fold.
How does selling a piece to you differ from selling gold for scrap?
A scrap buyer cares only about the mass of pure metal — the piece is going to be melted down. When we buy a piece, we appraise it as a finished object: brand, design, stones, condition. A Cartier or Tiffany piece with its set intact goes into our showcase, not into the furnace, and that is why the price is different.
Do you buy pieces with no hallmark, purity mark or documents?
Yes. The composition of the alloy is determined with an X-ray fluorescence analyzer, so a missing hallmark does not affect the value of the metal. A branded piece without papers calls for a more thorough authentication — that can take longer, and the price will be lower than for an item with the full set.
Will you buy Cartier, Van Cleef or Tiffany without the box and certificate?
Yes, once authenticity is confirmed. A missing box and papers lower the price — in our experience by 10–20%, depending on the model and the collection. The serial number, the house's marks and the style of the setting let us identify a piece even without documents.
How much is a 1-carat diamond worth?
The range for a one-carat diamond is very wide: two stones of the same weight can differ several-fold in price because of color, clarity and quality of cut. We name the exact price after examining the stone, or from a GIA, IGI or HRD certificate if you have one — with a certificate the appraisal takes minutes.
How do you verify that a diamond is genuine?
Testing thermal and electrical conductivity rules out moissanite and cubic zirconia, and examination under a 40× microscope shows the character of the inclusions, the cut and the girdle. On large stones we check the laser inscription on the girdle against the certificate database. We do not buy laboratory-grown diamonds (HPHT, CVD) — we work only with natural stones.
Do you appraise colored stones and pearls?
Yes: emeralds, rubies, sapphires, alexandrite, spinel, tanzanite, Paraiba tourmaline, and Akoya, South Sea and Tahitian pearls. For colored stones, origin and treatment are decisive — an untreated Burmese ruby and a glass-filled ruby of the same size are worth very different sums.
Do you buy Soviet-era pieces in 583 gold?
Yes. Soviet 583 gold is valued by its actual metal content. We pay separate attention to pieces with a maker's mark and to items with large stones — among them there are pieces worth considerably more than scrap.
Do I have to pay tax on the sale of jewelry?
If you have owned the piece for more than three years, no personal income tax is due on the sale. If you have owned it for less than three years, you may claim a property deduction of ₽250,000 or deduct the purchase cost confirmed by original documents. The sale and purchase agreement you keep is itself the document for your tax return.
How does a buyout differ from a jewelry-backed loan?
A buyout is a final sale: the piece becomes ours and the money is yours, with no obligations on either side. A pledge is a loan secured by the piece: once the debt is repaid, the jewelry goes back to its owner.
Can I get the piece back after a buyout?
No, a buyout is a final sale. If you want to keep the option of getting the piece back, consider a jewelry-backed loan instead.
How long do the appraisal and the payment take?
An online appraisal from photos takes 5–10 minutes. An in-person examination at our office takes 15–30 minutes, and up to 45 minutes for complex pieces with several large stones. Payment follows immediately after the contract is signed.
How much cash can I receive on the day of my visit?
There is no cap. If the piece is of commercial interest to us, we pay any agreed sum on the day you come in.
Do you buy watches with diamond setting?
Yes, but that is a separate line of business with its own expertise — see our Swiss watch buyout. On watches with diamond setting it is important to tell factory work from a custom job: it affects the price substantially.
