Four ultra-thin minute repeaters that pay homage to great warriors from different eras and cultures.

As part of the 270th anniversary, Vacheron Constantin presented the La Quête collection. It includes several series of watches from the Les Cabinotiers collection. One of them is the Homage to Epic Warriors series, which pays homage to the great conquerors of past eras. Alexander the Great, Antar the Conqueror, Genghis Khan and Sasaki Moritsuna became sources of inspiration for the masters of Vacheron Constantin.

This series is based on a minute repeater, assembled on the basis of an ultrathin caliber 1731. The manual winding movement, first introduced in 2013 in the Patrimony collection, was named after the year of birth of Jean-Marc Vacheron, founder of the Vacheron Constantin watch house. The thickness of the mechanism does not exceed 3.9 mm, and the power reserve (from one winding drum) is 65 hours.
Among the features of the mechanism, the floating battle control can be emphasized – it ensures the consistency of the rhythm in which the repeater’s hammers strike the gongs. The system is completely silent and functions thanks to a mechanism that uses both centrifugal and centripetal forces. To increase the resonance while maintaining the purity of the sound, the repeater gongs are soldered directly to the housing ring.

The watch received cases 41 x 8.59 mm, made of white and yellow gold. They are engraved around the perimeter of the case in accordance with the stated theme. The dial of each model is a 2N yellow gold plate with intricate decoration. At the bottom is an engraving filled with a layer of protective enamel-titanium. At the top is the technique of miniature painting.
The latter requires 6-7 layers of colored enamel with step-by-step firing at a temperature of 800-900 ° C, two protective layers of fondane and manual polishing at the final stage, which should reveal all the beauty of the enamel composition.
Homage to Epic Warriors Minute Repeater – Alexander the Great

Alexander the Great (356-323 BC) was a Macedonian king and commander whose conquests changed the political, economic and cultural face of the Ancient World. Undefeated in battle, he was not just a conqueror, but also a visionary who combined charismatic leadership, intellectual power and strategic insight that went far beyond the battlefield.

The dial of this model is decorated with hand-engraved images of spears of the army of Alexander the Great. Alexander the Great in the drawing sits on a Bucephalus horse on the battlefield.
Homage to Epic Warriors Minute Repeater – Antar (‘Antarah ibn Shaddad)

Antar (Antara ibn Shaddad; 528-608 A.D.) was the most famous poet-warrior who made epic campaigns in pre-Islamic Arabia. On both sides, Atar had noble origins. His father, Shaddad, was an elder of the Absit tribe, and his mother was an African princess who was captured during a raid on the Aksumite kingdom (Abyssinia) and enslaved.
On the dial, the warrior-poet sits on a horse and fights a lion, which he defeated in one of the adventures described in the folk novel “The Deeds of Antara”. The dial is decorated with a hand-engraved Arabesque pattern.
Homage to Epic Warriors Minute Repeater – Genghis Khan

Genghis Khan (1162-1227) became one of the most famous warrior rulers in history. He came to power by uniting the nomadic tribes of Mongolia into a strictly disciplined military state. In 1206, assuming the title Genghis Khan (meaning “world ruler”), he began conquering settled peoples beyond the steppes, eventually creating an empire that stretched from the Pacific coast of Asia to the Eastern Mediterranean.

The dial of this model depicts Genghis Khan riding a horse with a falcon on his arm, and the background is decorated with hand-engraved images of the endless Mongolian steppes and distant mountains.
Homage to Epic Warriors Minute Repeater – Sasaki Moritsuna

Sasaki Moritsuna, who lived in medieval Japan, was a samurai and served Minamoto no Yoritomo, the founder and first shogun of the Kamakura Shogunate.

The clock face depicts the turning point of the Battle of Fujito, when Moritsuna led his troops across the sea. A hand-engraved background in the form of waves sets off the image of a warrior on horseback holding a katana sword above his head.
