A tribute to Chopard’s titular Ambassador, Jacqui X

Chopard has introduced a new product that pays tribute to the legendary racer and brand ambassador, Jacqui X. The famous photograph of Rainer Schlegelmich was reproduced on the clock face using miniature painting techniques. The photograph with the uncomplicated name Ferrari 312 PB – 1972 was taken in 1972 as part of the 24 Hours of Spa race in Belgium.

In the foreground, the composition of the dial depicts the legendary Ferrari 312 PB of Jacques X and the helmet of the racer. The blurred image in the background is of the audience in the stands caught in the lens at high speed.

The watch received a 40 x 10.30 mm case. It is made of ethical 18K white gold with alternating satin finish and polishing. On the sapphire back cover of the case, you can see an engraving with the autograph of Jacques X and the inscription “1000 km de Spa 1972”. There is also a miniature power reserve indicator. Water resistance is 50 meters.

References to the world of motorsport in the design of the model are continued by a perforated calfskin strap equipped with an ethical white gold buckle. In particular, the perforation on the strap refers to racing gloves and the coating on the steering wheel of vintage racing cars, which provided breathability and comfort while driving at high speed.

The L.U.C 98.06L caliber, equipped with manual winding, is working under the dial. This jumping clock mechanism was first introduced in 2021. Its main feature is its 4 winding drums, which provide the watch with an 8–day power reserve while maintaining an elegant thickness of 4.85 mm. The design with a pairwise connection of the wind-up drums ensures constant torque over the entire length of the power reserve. This is crucial for instant switching of the jumping clock.

The watch fully meets the strict criteria of the Geneva brand. The model is made in one copy.
