Hublot is adding glacial blue to its colorful line of sapphire watches. Hublot debuted with their first Sapphire Big Bang in 2016. Since then, the company has presented a fairly stable release of Hublot sapphire rainbows: purple, blue, orange, yellow, green, and now ice blue — or “Glacier Blue”, artificial paraiba tourmaline.
The MP-11 has appeared in several different body materials since it was introduced as a platform for the HUB9011 caliber. It has a 14-day power reserve thanks to seven sequentially connected reels located horizontally, directly under the dial.

The new MP-11 reflects the capabilities of Hublot. The manufactory develops and manufactures complex Calibers with unique complications and new designs, usually presented in cases made of new materials with distinctive aesthetics and properties.
The MP-1114 model has a soft blue synthetic sapphire case. “Grown” using a new chemical formula, blue sapphire still retains the usual characteristics of the material, including transparency and surface hardness.

The sapphire case with a diameter of 45 mm and a thickness of 14.4 mm is finished manually to obtain a perfectly smooth and transparent surface. In typical Big Bang style, the case is designed as a sandwich with sapphire front and back plates containing a sapphire case in the middle.
There is a 12 o’clock time indicator on the dial, and the seven reels are arranged horizontally across the lower half of the dial. Since the drums are located above the plane of the movement, the sapphire crystal covering the dial is partially domed.

At 8 o’clock there is a power reserve indicator in the shape of a wheel that makes one revolution every two weeks. The grooving on the crown is similar to the helical gear for setting the time and the factory.
Like other MP-11 watches, the new watch The Hublot Big Bang MP-11 Water Blue Sapphire does not have any type of dial, except for a small ring located in the upper half of the display, which there is a pair of hands that track the hours and minutes. Behind the clock face, in the upper half of the display, there is a balance beam and a helical gear that act as a clutch system to transfer power from the wind-up drums to the rest of the mechanism.

Since the new Hublot Big Bang MP-11 Water Blue Sapphire watch is mechanically identical to the original 2018 clear sapphire crystal model, it is equipped with the same hand-wound HUB9011 manufacturing mechanism, which is equipped with a silicon trigger and operates at a frequency of 28,800 half-vibrations per hour (4 Hz) with with a large power reserve of 14 days (approximately 336 hours). An impressive battery life is achieved by seven sequentially connected wind-up drums, which are mounted at a 90-degree angle perpendicular to the mechanism, and the running springs can be wound either directly through the crown at the 3 o’clock position, or using the Torx electric stylus from Hublot, which is a special wind-up tool that the brand supplies with with your watch with an increased power reserve.

Like other models from the current Big Bang collection, the new Hublot Big Bang MP-11 Water Blue Sapphire watch features a proprietary One-Click strap changer system that allows users to detach the strap and fasten a new one by simply pressing two trapezoid-shaped buttons located on the upper surfaces of the integrated lugs. To preserve the watch’s signature light blue appearance, its ears are equipped with a two-component Water Blue transparent rubber strap, and the strap is complemented by a titanium folding clasp with the Hublot name engraved in light blue to match the rest of the strap and case.
Currently, Water Blue Sapphire is a brand new addition to the Hublot catalog, and it can only be found in this latest version of MP-11.
