Jaeger-LeCoultre begins her own space odyssey, and her first step is to recall the astronomical phenomena that began the history of time measurement. Having thoroughly studied the concepts of solar, lunar and sidereal time, the craftsmen of the Manufactory are constantly innovating to create the most modern and accurate mechanisms capable of displaying or even predicting astronomical phenomena.
We are proud of our heritage, and we have found new ways to demonstrate the results of almost 190 years of work by our craftsmen. In 2022, the world will see several new watches with astronomical complications.
THE MYSTERIES OF THE CONSTELLATIONS
The stars have always fascinated mankind. They appeared in the night sky at different times and in different places, depending on the position of the Earth in orbit relative to the Sun. But the ability to recognize patterns is one of the basic human abilities, and the first civilizations already identified groups of stars — constellations — and gave them names. The masters of the watch House have developed a mechanism with which the position of the constellations can be observed in real time, as we see them from the Vallee de Joux.
CALIBER MASTER HYBRIS ARTISTICA 945
The complication of the starry sky map, presented in 945 caliber, shows on the aesthetic dial not the usual for us, but the sidereal time, embodying the direct connection of humanity with the cosmos. In 2022, Jaeger-LeCoultre created two new aesthetic interpretations of the 945 caliber.

CALIBRE MASTER GRANDE TRADITION 948
The rotation of the Earth has also always fascinated our craftsmen. This year, the watch house displayed it in a new luxurious interpretation of the calibre with the complication of world time: the calibre of the Master Grande Tradition 948.

UNPREDICTABLE STARS
Unpredictable, ephemeral, mysterious shooting stars are undoubtedly the most romantic and mysterious astronomical phenomenon. To capture the magic of this rare phenomenon, Jaeger-LeCoultre has developed a completely new approach to shooting star complexity. It seems that it completely contradicts all the laws of watchmaking — a star can fly through the dial at any moment, and at the same time it is controlled by mathematically precise processes in the mechanism. The complication is completely created and developed in our Manufactory. The ephemeral beauty of shooting stars is unique, and to emphasize this uniqueness, we have developed this complication specifically for the Rendez-Vous collection of watches, in which it appeared in 2022.

PERPETUAL MOTION
Atmos watches were created in 1928, and they have no analogues. Everything here seems to contradict the laws of physics: watches are capable of working for centuries, and do not require either conventional energy sources or winding. Instead, the mechanism works due to natural changes in air temperature. A change of just one degree is enough to guarantee two days of operation. Due to this, under normal conditions, the watch is able to work forever. Over time, the Jaeger-LeCoultre craftsmen were able to add more functions to the mechanism without significantly changing energy consumption.
During their work, they realized that the complications of a long cycle are best suited for Atmos watches — moon phases, months, seasons, years, and so on. Atmos watches have an expressive aesthetic, which is largely determined by their unique mechanism. Naturally, many variants of their design have been created during their existence. In 2022, Jaeger-LeCoultre will present two new interpretations of this unique watch.

PERPETUAL CALENDAR
In 2022, Jaeger-LeCoultre introduces the perpetual calendar for the first time in the Polaris line, adding one of the most complex, useful and highly appreciated watch complications to the collection. The perpetual calendar is a miniature mechanical computer that always shows the correct date, automatically adjusting to different lengths of the month and even leap years.
