The new Duometre Heliotourbillon Perpetual pushes the boundaries of what is possible even further. This watch features a completely new tourbillon design: it rotates on three axes, creating a “rotating top” effect.

A BREAKTHROUGH IN PRECISION IMPROVEMENT

Before the advent of the Duometre concept, it was believed that clock complications and time measurement accuracy were incompatible. The fact is that complications take away some of the energy, which makes its flow unstable, and this affects accuracy.

THE PHENOMENAL DUOMETRE CONCEPT

In 2007, the patented Duometre mechanism was introduced: two drums and two separate wheel systems connected to a single regulatory body. One wheel system feeds the time display, and the second provides all additional functions, thus ensuring a high degree of accuracy.

CALIBRE 388: PRECISION IN THE SPOTLIGHT

Jaeger-LeCoultre is distinguished by its ability to develop ever more refined ways to achieve the perfect regularity of the “heartbeat” of its calibres. The calibre 388 operates at a frequency of 4 Hz. It shows the time extremely accurately and at the same time represents a new step in the world of timekeeping.

THREE-AXIS TOURBILLON

The Calibre 388 is equipped with a tourbillon rotating on three axes. It is assembled from 163 parts and weighs less than 0.7 grams.

NEW: ROTATION ON MULTIPLE AXES

The Duometre Heliotourbillon Perpetual watch introduces a new principle: the configuration of a tourbillon rotating on three axes to counteract the effects of Earth’s gravity. This creates a unique kinematic effect. The tourbillon is mounted on ceramic ball bearings that minimize friction, consists of 163 components and at the same time weighs less than 0.7 grams.

ROTATING TOP EFFECT

The helioturbillon consists of three titanium carriages mounted on a cylindrical balance spring. The first carriage is positioned at a 90-degree angle to the balance wheel. The second one is at an angle of 90 degrees to the first one. Both are fixed on an axis tilted by 40 degrees and make a complete revolution in 30 seconds. The third carriage is located perpendicular to the second one and makes a complete revolution in 60 seconds.

PERFECTLY READABLE GRANDE DATE DISPLAY

The 388 caliber perpetual calendar also has a date display: a classic but rare complication. For better readability, the display is placed at 3 o’clock. In addition, the year display is equipped with a special mechanism that turns the last digit red in a leap year (Jaeger-LeCoultre patent), and displays the moon phase with an accuracy margin of 122 years.

INSPIRED BY POCKET WATCHES

The case of this watch is a modern interpretation of the Savonette pocket watch, created by the watch house in the early 19th century. It consists of 34 individual parts with curved ears, is equipped with a convex crystal bezel with an elegant rounded shape, and different finishes create an amazing play of light.
