New Model 2024: Patek Philippe 5330G-001 World Time Date Watch

The World Time watch (Model 5330), released in a limited edition on the occasion of the Patek Philippe large-scale exhibition “Watchmaking” in Tokyo in June 2023, is now part of the current collection of the Manufactory. The model implements a patented technology that has become a world premiere: the date display in the clock is synchronized with local time, that is, it adjusts to the time of the time zone indicated by the central hands, selected on the disk with the names of cities and set opposite the “12 o’clock” mark.

INNOVATIVE PATENTED DIFFERENTIAL SYSTEM

To make it as comfortable and easy as possible for the owner of the watch to use the World Time function while traveling, Patek Philippe instructed its engineers to mechanically link the date display module to the local time without the need for adjustments. To solve this problem, it was necessary to provide automatic date correction in two situations: after midnight, when the date shifts forward a day; and when crossing the date line (a conditional line running across the Pacific Ocean) from west to east, when the date goes back a day.

To implement this practical function, the Manufactory’s specialists have developed a new mechanism, the 240 HU caliber. A patented central differential system consisting of two concentric star-shaped gears is responsible for date control based on local time.

ORIGINAL DISPLAY AND OPTIMALREADABILITY

For the first time in the history of Patek Philippe, the date is indicated using a transparent glass arrow with a red lacquered tip in the shape of a hammer, which moves on a scale from 1 to 31, applied by decalcification. The decision to make the arrow out of transparent glass is due to the fact that it is in a static state most of the time, so it is important that it does not interfere with the reading of other readings.

DIAL WITH CHARACTER

The Mod. 5330G-001 features an exquisite and instantly recognizable design. The central part of the elegant blue-gray opal dial is decorated with a Carbon motif. The 24-hour dial is divided into day and night zones: a small gilded sun on a silver-plated background indicates noon, and a gilded crescent moon on a blue-gray background symbolizes midnight. The red dot between Oakland and Midway on the city names disk marks the date line.
