New Audemars Piguet Code 11.59

New Audemars Piguet Code 11.59

Audemars Piguet has announced three new items as part of the Code 11.59 collection, demonstrating the Swiss watch house’s dedication to this line in honor of the 50th anniversary of Royal Oak. The three different Code 11.59 models are aesthetically similar to the existing Code 11.59 models in completely different ways.

The new Code 11.59 Tourbillon Openworked watch features a blue ceramic case surrounded by a bezel, ears and an 18-carat white gold back cover. The mechanism inside is a hand-wound Calibre 2948 with an openwork tourbillon that has been completely decorated in numerous shades of blue using a chemical process known as atomic layered coating (ALD). The architecture of the caliber 2948 is completely unique and irresistible in its boldness. The height of the mechanism is only 3.65 mm, creating an impressive sense of three-dimensionality.

Slightly less complicated, but just as attractive is the new Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon with a black ceramic center case, 18-carat white gold bezel and ears, and a rich dark dial made of solid black onyx. AP decided to remove the applied hour markers on the dial, allowing the stone dial material to move into the spotlight.

AP worked with La Chaux-de-Fonds watchmaker Someco to carve the dial out of solid black onyx. For the dial, a thin disk is first cut out, sanded, polished, and then placed in a two-color case. Each dial is unique in nature, which means that there is a potentially endless space for aesthetic variations. The Code 11.59 Flying Tourbillon model with a black onyx dial is not limited in its release.

Finally, the new chronograph Code 11.59 Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon Chronograph, is almost entirely focused on a comprehensive two-color design. With a combination of black ceramic and 18-karat rose gold throughout the case and a nearly missing dial, the new hybrid chronograph watch with Flyback and tourbillon function is truly a showcase for the powerful movement inside.

It supports the functions of the Audemars Piguet 2952 Caliber. The overall architecture of the mechanism uses delicate bridges in shades of black and rose gold. The AP watchmakers noted that all 111 V-shaped corners of the movement were sandblasted, satin-finished and hand-polished. It is said that the entire finish took more than 70 hours of work. Code 11.59 Flying Tourbillon Chronograph is a sophisticated watch with an irresistible movement design with multiple bridges.
