New Patek Philippe Aquanaut Luce Rainbow Chronograph 7968

Patek Philippe Aquanaut Luce Rainbow Chronograph 7968

Patek Philippe has expanded its women’s line with the Aquanaut Luce “Rainbow” chronograph ref. 7968/300R-001, the first Patek Philippe women’s chronograph with automatic winding.

Launched in 2004, the Aquanaut Luce line is characterized by a diamond-encrusted bezel, which explains the name Luce, which means “light” in Italian. For this model, Patek Philippe decided to play with gems of different colors.

The octagonal bezel is decorated with two rows of baguette-cut stones. The inner row consists of 40 flawless rare white Top Wesselton diamonds (2.05 carats). The outer one, slightly curved, is decorated with 40 sapphires of all colors of the rainbow (2.31 carats). Each of them has been hand-picked to ensure a perfect transition from one shade of color to another.

For this two-row composition, Patek Philippe chose a sophisticated “invisible pinning” technique, in which the gems have a horizontal notch on the bottom edge. They can then be mounted on “metal rails” that are invisible from the outside.

The rainbow of colors continues on the mother-of-pearl dial, which is engraved with a typical Aquanaut motif. The twelve rose gold watch markers are made of baguette-cut sapphires (0.31 carats) with shades in harmony with the dial. The luminous rose gold wand hands make the hours and minutes legible at a glance.

The 18-carat rose gold case has a diameter of 39.9 mm and a thickness of 10.37 mm. Water resistance is provided up to a pressure of 30 meters.

Aquanaut Luce “Rainbow” chronograph is equipped with a CH 28-520 caliber with automatic winding, vertical disc clutch and a large 60-minute counter at 6 o’clock. Thanks to this state-of-the-art clutch, which works with minimal wear and does not affect accuracy and power reserve, the chronograph’s sweep hand can also be used as a continuously running second hand.

Using the 4 o’clock button, the reverse function allows you to start a new measurement at any time, even if the chronograph hand is already measuring the duration of the event or is used as a continuously running second hand. Operating at a frequency of 28,800 half-vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and an autonomy of 45 to 55 hours, this mechanism is distinguished by its meticulous finish, which can be admired through the sapphire glass back cover.

The Patek Philippe Aquanaut Luce “Rainbow” Chronograph comes with three straps made of durable composite material in red, matte beige and matte white colors. Reference 7968/300R-001
