New: Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding 37 and 41mm with Malachite dials

A stunning combination of yellow gold and bright green malachite.

One of the current trends in the watch industry is the use of ornamental stones in dials. And while many brands are only doing this now, Audemars Piguet started back in the 1960s. Back then, the stones were used in the dials of the brand’s ultrathin classic models. In 2023, the Royal Oak 37 mm watch with a yellow gold case and turquoise dial was released. This year’s two new items are presented in yellow gold cases with bright green malachite dials.

Natural malachite is appreciated for its rich green color and unique striped patterns. The brightness of the color is determined by the concentration of copper: the higher it is, the deeper and more saturated the stone has, and vice versa. At the same time, malachite is quite fragile. Only 3.5 – 4 points on the Mohs scale. Therefore, very delicate stone-cutting saws are needed to work with this beautiful stone.

The bright visual of the two new products is enhanced by yellow gold hour markers and typical Royal Oak hands with luminescent coating. Unlike the turquoise dial model, there is no date window, which makes the picture more complete.

In 2022, in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Royal Oak collection, the 37mm models of the collection have become thinner. The case thickness has decreased from 9.8 mm to 9 mm. This is due to the use of the calibre 5909, a Vaucher automatic mechanism with a balanced frequency of 4 Hz and a 60–hour power reserve. As for the new model, due to the malachite dial, the watch has gained 0.3 mm in thickness.

The 41 mm case model has retained its standard thickness of 10.5 mm. The watch is equipped with an automatic 4309 caliber, which, due to its large diameter (32 mm), provides a solid 70-hour power reserve.

Both models are equipped with integrated 18-carat yellow gold bracelets, which are equipped with triple folding clasps.

The estimated cost of the smaller model is CHF 59,800. The model with a 41 mm case is priced at CHF 64,700.
