Breguet 5557 Marine Hora Mundi – A GAME OF PERSPECTIVES

The Breguet manufactory offers to travel through space with the new Hora Mundi watches from the Marine collection, combining technical craftsmanship and aesthetic perfection.

Travel the world with a simple click of a button! As soon as the Hora Mundi model was born, it instantly captured the hearts of watchmaking fans. The main feature of this mechanical watch, which took three years to develop and was accompanied by the registration of four patents, was an innovative time display function for two time zones with the ability to save the display and instantly switch between zones.

The adjustment and change of readings in this watch was carried out using the crown and the time zone control button. After setting the date and time for the first city, the watch owner only had to choose the second city. Thanks to a well-thought-out system of cams, hammers and a built-in differential, the clockwork itself calculated the corresponding time and date in the second time zone. Then, with just one simple push of a button, it was possible to easily transfer from one corner of the globe to another without compromising the accuracy of the clock.

VISUAL FLIGHT THROUGH TIME

The dial features a miniature world map formed by the superimposition of several plates and created using various techniques and materials. The first base is made of gold and decorated with a hand-guilloched pattern in the form of waves crashing on the shores of continents. The “sun rays” finish on the background of the bottomless blue of the dial gives the undulating motif
a feeling of incessant movement. The design of the continents also contributes to the achievement of this effect. Metallized meridian lines are applied to an additional plate of sapphire glass. The continents are covered with horizontal satin, and their contours are outlined by a thin metallic turquoise border. Finally, the outer ring serves as a support for various parts of the dial. It took several weeks of painstaking work to finish the dial using various techniques. The result is amazing in its depth and flawless execution.

ATTENTION TO EVERY DETAIL

For Breguet, luxury lies in the details. That is why the hour and minute hands, as well as the markers, are covered with luminescent material, which makes
it easy to read the readings in the dark. The discs of the sun and moon at the “4 o’clock” position are hand-minted to give them a more realistic appearance. The sun illuminates the dial with the radiance of rose gold, and
the moon, covered with rhodium, emits a mysterious silver light. The date is displayed in the aperture at the “2 o’clock” mark using a retrograde
arrow with a rounded-shaped tip added to the rotating calendar system, indicating the current day of the month. In the aperture, at the “b o’clock” position, there is a disk with the names of cities corresponding to different time zones, and a metal anchor above the indicator window indicates the location of the current time displayed on the dial.

The 439 mm white or rose gold case has a 77F1 caliber with a balance frequency of 4 Hz. This self-winding movement is equipped with a silicon trigger, a material with many
advantages, including high resistance to corrosion and wear, as well as immunity to magnetic fields. The unique feature of the calibre 77F1 is its patented additional modules for switching between two time zones, indicating the time of the second time zone, a programmable and reprogrammable mechanical memory wheel and a day/night indicator. The new Hora Mundi watch , ready to travel with you, can be observed through the sapphire crystal on the back cover, exquisitely decorated with Cotes de Geneva, guilloche and spiral trim. worldwide, they are equipped with a leather or rubber strap or a gold bracelet.
