Two new items completing the anniversary year for Breguet.

As you know, this year the Swiss watch brand Breguet celebrated its 250th anniversary. At the same time, the company is not going to stop celebrating the anniversary yet. The proof of this is two gorgeous new items that almost remained in the shadow of other anniversary releases of the brand.

The first of the new products is a wristwatch with a minute repeater. The model is presented in a 39.1 x 10.8 mm case made of 18k Breguet Gold. The case is complemented by a blue dial in the technique of hot enamel, equipped with superimposed Breguet numerals made of the same alloy as the case, and a proprietary secret signature.

The body is designed in a classic style with such a characteristic feature for Breguet as elongated, slightly curved down and tapering ears. The model from the jubilee series in this watch gives out the Guilloche motif “Quai de l’Horloge”, made directly on the movement. The model is powered by the caliber 1896, a new manual winding mechanism that Breguet plans to replace the gradually disappearing caliber 567.2.

The mechanism equipped with a silicon trigger has been updated by more than 35%. One of its important features is the white gold gongs, gilded with Breguet Gold and attached directly to the watch case. With a balanced frequency of 3 Hz, the novelty has a 75-hour power reserve. This is a certified chronometer with a running accuracy of +/- 2 seconds per day, marked with the new Breguet brand.

The watch is equipped with a blue alligator leather strap. The stated cost is $369,600.

The second novelty is the Classique Grande Sonnerie Métiers d’art Ref. 1905 pocket watch with more sophisticated functionality. In addition to the minute repeater, this model is equipped with functions of large and small combat, as well as a minute tourbillon. The tourbillon bridge and the hammers of the combat mechanism, visually highlighted with a PVD coating, stand out spectacularly against the background of the guilloche dial in the style of a regulator.

The small dial with a clock hand is covered with white enamel Grande Feu. The numbers on the hour scale, as well as the brand name, are highlighted in black enamel petit feu. The case of this novelty is also made of 18-carat Breguet Gold. The dimensions are impressive – 56.5 x 23.5 mm. The watch weighs about 400 grams.

The new caliber 508GS is used as the mechanism here. The platinum and caliber bridges are made of rhodium-plated brass. The bridge of the wind-up drum in the fighting mechanism is made of Breguet gold, covered with rhodium and hand-decorated with the Guilloche motif “Petit Trianon”.

The clock is wound in two directions: the factory in one direction supplies the basic mechanism with energy for operation, and the factory in the other direction supplies the fighting mechanism. A special button on the case activates the time setting.

Traditionally, the model has 3 modes of operation for watches with a fight: big fight, small fight and silent mode. Other characteristics of the mechanism are a frequency of 2.5 Hz, a balance with variable inertia, a spiral with a blued steel Breguet end curve and a Swiss anchor escapement with 15 teeth. The combat mechanism is based on a magnetic regulator that ensures a constant pace of combat.

Interesting fact: the box in which the watch is delivered is partially made of Marie Antoinette’s favorite oak. The legendary tree was planted back in 1681 and cut down in 2005, after it died during a storm in 1999. The parquet of the Versailles Palace is made of the same oak. The model’s circulation will be limited to a few copies per year. The price is available on request only.
