The celebration of the 250th anniversary of the watch brand is a landmark event in itself. However, if we are talking about a company founded by the legendary Abraham-Louis Breguet, then there are even more reasons for celebrations. In tribute to this significant date, Breguet has released four commemorative versions in a gold case.

The Marine Hora Mundi model has received an update — a watch for travelers with a set of technical improvements, in which you can change the time zone at the touch of a button. Thanks to the double-layered dial with an incredible phosphorescent effect, 24-hour zones can be personalized at the request of 50 lucky collectors.
Functional caliber 77F1

Through the transparent back cover, you can see the Breguet 77F1 manufacture caliber with automatic winding and a power reserve of 55 hours. The device is equipped with a module for switching to a second time zone and a mechanical memory wheel with a programming option. The balance operates at a frequency of 4 Hz, and the trigger mechanism is made of silicon to protect against corrosion and magnetic fields. The finish includes a Geneva waves pattern and pearl grain, which meets the traditional standards of high Breguet watchmaking.
Sophisticated dial design

Unlike other watches with GMT function, the Marine Hora Mundi model is not equipped with an additional hand or a second dial. By default, its central arrows indicate local time, but they can be switched to reference time if necessary. By selecting one of the cities using the factory head and pressing the button inside it, the arrows immediately switch to the local or reference time, respectively.
However, the technology goes even further by making the date and day/night indicators move forward or backward at the same time as the central arrows. An innovative feature patented by the manufacturer based on a system of cams, hammers and an integrated differential significantly simplifies and accelerates the transition between belts.
The gold dial, equipped with a horizontal gradient from sky blue in the center to dark blue on the periphery, is decorated with manually guilloched meridians and parallels, creating the optical illusion of a curved Earth. This angle is known for the nighttime image of our planet from NASA called “Black Marble”.

The second dial, made of translucent sapphire crystal, is located above the guilloche base. Continents are painted in miniature enamel on the back of the protective glass, and their contours, reaching the flange, are created using the Grand Feu enamel pad printing technique. The clouds are also hand-painted with enamel on the outside of the glass and processed using a similar technique.
The third layer of the finish includes phosphorescent enamel, which highlights cities at night. The golden Roman numerals are coated with Super-LumiNova luminescent compound, which harmonizes with the golden apple-shaped Breguet hour and minute hands, as well as with the superimposed markings on the flange. The day/night indicator is made in the shape of a sun with a ray finish and a hand-forged crescent moon.
Noble reliability of the case

Inspired by the shades of gold used by watchmakers of the 18th century, Breguet used the same material for the case of the new model with a diameter of 43.9 mm and a thickness of 13.8 mm. What might surprise you about a watch of this complexity is its impressive water resistance at depths of up to 100 meters. The case is finished with branded fluting, and some details make it unique. For example, the central mount has been polished, and the back cover has a special guilloche Quai de l’Horloge pattern in honor of the 250th anniversary of the model. Another distinctive feature of the novelty is the golden rotor.
Stylish and comfortable strap

The watch comes complete with a dark blue crocodile leather strap with a three-link gold clasp. For the version with a red Moroccan leather case, a rubber strap is additionally provided.
The Breguet Marine Hora Mundi 5555 watch with an individual number and the ability to personalize the image of the city is available in a limited edition of 50 units and is priced at 88,000 Swiss francs (~94,000 euros).
