The term Grande Complication may have been coined specifically for the new Carillon Tourbillon from the Daniel Roth collection, a watch with three percussion hammers playing a three–note melody that perfectly embodies all the qualities that can only be expected from such a model. Cleanliness, purity and precision are the very factors that guided the development and production processes of this outstanding creation, completely created in the workshops of the Bulgari manufactory. By embodying the full range of technical and aesthetic skills to create the Carillon Tourbillon, the Swiss watchmakers have also found a space for Italian inspiration, the guiding force behind Bulgari’s creations, evident in the exquisite architecture.

Among all its exquisite elements, the watch can offer one of the rarest melodic functions available only to unique models. This term defines a percussion mechanism that plays at least three notes. To achieve this goal, the Bulgari Carillon Tourbillon uses three hammers – one of the most elegant and therefore the most unusual configurations. Bulgari watchmakers lavished infinite care, creating hammers as thin as possible to provide the most refined and melodious of sounds.
The energy that drives the watch is distributed through such an impressive complex clockwork mechanism built around the most prestigious regulatory body: the tourbillon. The DR3300 manual-wound mechanical manufacturing calibre includes 327 components artfully arranged around a large tourbillon crate. Two hour–long complications – the tourbillon and the combat mechanism completely complement each other. A true miracle of ingenuity and an example of the valor of watchmaking, the mechanical power of which is provided by two reels. One controls the power supply of the firing mechanism and starts automatically when it is triggered again, while the second guarantees a minimum of 75 hours of power reserve.
The Carillon Tourbillon gongs are delicately selected in several consecutive playing styles. The gongs, which are completely hand-crafted and specially shaped, serve to continuously achieve perfect sound quality. They are bent and shaped by hand before being sent for re-firing and quenching at a temperature of about 900 degrees. They are then thoroughly cleaned and polished before being fired a second time in an oven at a slightly lower temperature. Such careful operations, which require patience and skill, result in high-quality metal that provides excellent resonance. The watchmakers also paid great attention to the gear mechanisms of the control levers in order to create the best percussive chords for the minute repeater thanks to the three carillon hammers.

The 3300 caliber structure, the bridge cutouts and the placement of various components are designed in an original, modern and contrasting style to show all the sophistication and beauty of the mechanism. In addition, the decision to redesign the overall design also affected the watch’s functions. The dial is separated from the inner ring of the bezel and topped with faceted sapphire crystal, which is very difficult to finish and polish. It serves to enhance the resonance effect of the impact mechanism, and also opens up the side of the mechanism for a general view. The impact lever has also been redesigned and rearranged to ensure optimal grip. Finally, the case itself has been redesigned and brought to a more subtle shape.
Amazing architecture. The alternation between polished steel components – hammers, gongs, a tourbillon cage – and delicate surfaces, exquisitely decorated main pallet and bridges with an elegant NAC coating, an alloy consisting exclusively of precious metals: platinum, rhodium, ruthenium and indium. As always, Bulgari amazes with the beauty of its choice and appearance.
The Carillon Tourbillon version of the watch is a new interpretation of an exceptional model featuring the finest and exquisitely crafted rose gold case. The characteristic features of the original design have been well preserved, especially the slider of the minute repeater on the left side of the case.

Made with even more care than ever and decorated with eye-catching straight hour markers, this highly modern model has absorbed the intricate ornamentation of its predecessor, giving it more rigor, elegance and sophistication. Faceted sapphire crystal provides even more precise readability and avoids glare, which creates a completely new watch in which everything seems infinitely simple and beautifully executed.
