Hublot Big Bang Unico Novak Djokovic

Novak Djokovic, Olympic champion, the greatest tennis player of all time and winner of 24 Grand Slam singles titles, is one of the most interesting players of our time. Now, working together, Hublot and Djokovic have decided that the watch should have a stable component and be incredibly light, durable and very personal.

In the tennis world, Novak Djokovic is a true icon, a strong player with a winning attitude who boasts an unsurpassed 24 Grand Slam singles titles and a reputation as one of the greatest athletes in history. Djokovic, who has been a Hublot ambassador since 2021, has been seen wearing various brand watches, including the vibrant and eye-catching Big Bang Unico Yellow Magic. Hublot is introducing the Big Bang Unico Novak Djokovic watch in shades of blue in honor of the synergy between the charismatic athlete and the brand, which also demonstrates Hublot’s mastery in developing innovative materials and solutions designed for maximum performance.

Hublot Big Bang Unico Novak Djokovic have a matte blue case with a diameter of 42 mm and a thickness of 14.5 mm and a bezel made of recycled composite. This composite combines an epoxy resin base reinforced with quartz powder and a coating containing fragments of Djokovic’s 25 HEAD rackets and 32 Lacoste shirts — 17 dark blue and 15 light blue — that he used during his record-breaking 2023 season. The result is a watch that combines camouflage pale and dark blue textiles and black carbon fiber. The materials used allowed the watch to be as light as possible, while remaining durable and resistant to damage.

It has a signature sandwich construction with protective side bumpers and a round bezel with 6 titanium screws in the shape of the letter H. If you look closely, you can see that the screws are slightly domed and have a more depressed, swirling pattern, like on tennis balls. Picking up on the tennis symbolism, the top button has a yellow cap the color of a tennis ball, and the bottom button is white.

Maintaining the lightness of the watch has led to changes in the external components of the case, many of which are made of lightweight aluminum. The side protective bumpers are not solid, but hollow. This feature has been applied to the bezel, the lugs, and even the strap attachment module.

Prioritizing lightness, Hublot replaces traditional sapphire crystal with tempered Gorilla Glass, which is twice as light and provides excellent damage resistance. To further reduce weight, the crown, buttons, back cover and other case components are made of aluminum, which highlights the watch’s high-performance design.

The delicate dial of Hublot Big Bang Unico Novak Djokovic is distinguished by white luminescent indexes, skeletonized hands and the central second hand of the chronograph. The yellow accents on the dial correspond to the chronograph’s trigger button, reflecting the color of the tennis balls. Instead of Arabic indexes, the watch markers are represented by white openwork luminescent indexes that look like tuning forks. A round white ring inserted into the chronograph counter at the 15-minute position opens the date window. Other tennis-related details include the “D” counterweight on the second hand and Novak Djokovic’s logo on the glass.

Not only the case has been redesigned to lighten its weight. The brass components were replaced with lightweight aluminum anodized in light blue to match the camouflage color scheme of the case and reduce weight by almost 27%.

Under the surface is the self-winding Unico chronograph movement, covered with a blue PVD coating, operating at a speed of 28,800 half-vibrations per hour and providing a power reserve of 72 hours. The 43-stone calibre still consists of 354 individual components and offers a date display and a flyback 60-minute chronograph.

Hublot uses anodized aluminum for the mechanism components, which are usually made of brass, which provides significant weight savings. The watch itself weighs only 49.5 g paired with an elastic strap, which is actually lighter than a tennis ball. The weight on the textile strap is 65 g and 75 g on the rubber strap. The Big Bang Unico Novak Djokovic watch comes with four different straps in a wooden box: a Lacoste tennis bracelet (the total weight of the watch and bracelet is 65 g), a blue elastic strap (49.5 g), a light blue velcro strap with a blue aluminum sports buckle (54 g) and a white rubber strap with a titanium folding clasp (75 g).

Paris has become the perfect backdrop for the presentation of Big Bang Unico Novak Djokovic, considering that it was in the “City of Lights” earlier this year that Djokovic joined Steffi Graf, Andre Agassi, Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams, becoming the fifth tennis player in history to win what is called the “Golden Slam”.

To win the Golden Slam, a player had to win all four Grand Slam singles titles—the Australian Open, the French Open (or Roland Garros), Wimbledon, and the U.S. Open—in one year, and a gold medal in singles at the Summer Olympics.

“It took extensive work, both physically and, most importantly, mentally, to achieve what I have today. The psychology of the game is very important, and when I play, every moment has to be precise and deliberate,” Djokovic said in a press release released by the brand. “This is especially true for what I wear during training and competition, as it becomes a part of my body and my mind.”
Indeed, Novak Djokovic demonstrates awareness during matches, unlike the vast majority of his rivals. Perhaps it’s his discipline, his experience, or even his maturity, but most likely, all three combined with a commitment to excellence helped turn him into a focused, professional, and virtually invincible player.

“Every detail is crucial to my ability to stay focused and determined. This new watch is a continuation of thinking and represents the key moments of my 2023 season, a momentous year in my career,” the player continued in a statement. “It’s a symbol of every game, every moment. Collaborating with Hublot to create this special watch has been an incredible experience.”
