Hublot Big Bang UNICO Ice Bang, Hublot Big Bang UNICO Orange Ceramic and Hublot Big Bang UNICO Dark Green Ceramic are a trio of ceramic chronographs. Known for its combination of different materials, Hublot began using high-tech ceramic bezels in 2005, followed by ceramic cases in traditional black and white colors. Then, in 2019, he amazed the watchmaking world with a red ceramic case, followed in 2021 by yellow — colors that are rarely found in this material due to the difficulty of creating a uniform color. In addition to the technical complexity, the advantages of high-tech ceramics are their scratch resistance and durability.
The new Big Bang Unico models made of orange and dark green ceramics have a case diameter of 42 mm, a thickness of 14.5 mm and a water resistance of up to 100 m. Using the proprietary sandwich design of this family, the body is reinforced with protective side bumpers. The hand-polished round bezel has 6 H-shaped, black titanium screws matching the color of the buttons and crown.

Like all Big Bang Unico models, the dial is openwork to show parts of the HUB1280 Unico manufacturing movement, a rare type of chronograph movement with a column wheel on the side of the dial. The skeletonized dial features a column wheel at 6 o’clock, parts of a gear train, and an open date wheel that surrounds the dial under the suspended numerals and two counters. The small second hand is at 9 o’clock, and the 60-minute chronograph register at 3 o’clock has a built-in date window. The hour and minute hands, as well as the hour markers, are filled with Super-LumiNova black.
The Unico watches feature orange or green integrated rubber straps that give the watch a uniform splash of color, and the patented One-Click system allows you to replace the strap quickly and without tools. The curved ergonomic back cover of the case offers a view of the black-coated openwork tungsten rotor of the HUB1280 caliber. It operates at a frequency of 4 Hz and has a reliable 72-hour power reserve. Both Big Bang Unico models in orange and green ceramics are available in a limited edition of 250 copies. The retail price is 30,800 euros.

Ice Bang is a direct return to the original Big Bang UNICO with a subdued and aggressive monochrome look. This two-tone iteration features a predominantly matte black ceramic body with polished accents on the sides. The matte finish uses a micro-jet treatment process that gives a fine-grained texture.
In stark contrast is the raised tungsten bezel mounted on the case with H-shaped screws. The longitudinal sanding on the top and the polished edge look great paired with brushed ceramic, and the choice of tungsten guarantees scratch resistance. The monochrome color scheme continued on the dial in the same skeletonized layout found in previous Big Bang UNICO watches. Although the readability is reduced, the time can still be distinguished at a glance. The matte, angular surfaces on the Ice Bang arrows enhance readability.

The colored ceramic Hublot Big Bang UNICO is completely polished and demonstrates how bright and deep their shades really are. The micro-blasting of black ceramics in the middle of the case and the back cover provides a color and textural contrast that makes the colors stand out a little more. The Hublot Big Bang UNICO Ice Bang comes with two straps, a matching black lined rubber strap and a fabric strap with a titanium buckle and velcro closure. The limited edition of the Big Bang Unico Ice Bang in 100 copies will be available exclusively online.
