New items from 2022 IWC

“Woodland” is a new color in the IWC ceramic line. The dark green shade is inspired by the flight suits and uniforms worn by elite pilots at TOPGUN Flight School and the vast forest landscapes these pilots fly over. IWC and Pantone® have identified this color as IWC Woodland.

Pilot’s Watch Chronograph TOP GUN Edition “Woodland”

A dark green shade inspired by the flight suits and uniforms of TOPGUN pilots, as well as the vast forest landscapes whose airspace these pilots use as a training ground; “Woodland” is the latest addition to IWC’s range of colored ceramics, and Pilot’s Watch Chronograph TOP GUN Edition “Woodland” is the first model with this color the code. Non-ferrous ceramics are the result of a complex manufacturing process in which zirconium oxide is mixed with other metal oxides. Because the color changes during the sintering process, countless tests and extensive experience are required to determine the correct mixture of raw materials. The monochrome design is complemented by a dark green dial and black hands, as well as a print and a muted green luminescent material. The buttons, crown and back cover with the engraved TOP GUN logo are made of Ceratanium®. This matte black IWC material is as light and durable as titanium, and at the same time as hard and scratch-resistant as ceramic. Inside the 44mm ceramic case, the 69380 caliber manufactured by IWC is working. The chronograph movement with the classic column wheel design is also equipped with an indication of the day of the week and the date at 3 o’clock. The soft iron inner case protects the mechanism from the effects of magnetic fields. This TOP GUN chronograph features a green rubber strap with a textile insert, the color of which perfectly matches the Woodland case.

IWC Lake Tahoe

Muted white with a mysterious shimmer: The Lake Tahoe ceramic color is inspired by the white uniforms and the wintry landscape around freshwater Lake Tahoe, a popular marine pilot training area. IWC and Pantone® have identified this color as IWC Lake Tahoe.

Pilot’s Watch Chronograph TOP GUN Edition “Lake Tahoe”

Muted white with a mysterious shimmer: The color of the Lake Tahoe ceramics is inspired by the “Service Dress White” uniform of the U.S. Navy, as well as the contrasting winter landscape with snow-capped peaks around the largest freshwater lake in the Sierra Nevada. Elite pilots of the TOP GUN flight school often fly over this mountainous landscape. The white ceramics symbolize IWC’s extensive ceramics expertise. The brand experimented with this color back in the 1980s. The spectacular white ceramic case of the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph TOP GUN Edition “Lake Tahoe” is combined with a black dial and black hands, as well as a white print and luminescent composition. The back cover with the TOP GUN logo is made of titanium, while the buttons and crown are made of stainless steel. The IWC 69380 manufacturing caliber works inside a ceramic case with a diameter of 44 millimeters. The chronograph with a classic column wheel design is also equipped with a day of the week and date indicator at 3 o’clock. The soft iron inner case protects the mechanism from the effects of magnetic fields. This TOP GUN chronograph is equipped with a white rubber strap with a distinctive embossed design, the color of which perfectly matches the Lake Tahoe case.

IWC Mojave Desert

Earthy color with hints of beige and khaki: “Mojave Desert” is inspired by flight suits and the barren desert landscape around China Lake, where the famous TOPGUN Flight School is located. IWC and Pantone® have identified this color as IWC Mojave Desert.

Big Pilot’s Watch TOP GUN Edition “Mojave Desert”

TOP GUN watches are technically advanced precision instruments designed to work best on the wrists of the most experienced pilots of the US Navy. In particular, the hard and scratch-resistant ceramic is ideal for daily use in the cramped cabin of a jet aircraft. For the first time, IWC presents the Big Pilot’s Watch Top Gun Edition “Mojave Desert” in a sand-colored ceramic case. The bright color is inspired by the Navy pilots’ flight suits and the desolate landscape around the China Lake Naval Air Base. The engineering ceramics used here are created in a complex manufacturing process from powdered raw materials, which are shaped and then sintered at high temperatures. To create a unique color tone, zirconium oxide is mixed with other metal oxides in precisely defined proportions. The dark brown muted dial and sand-colored rubber strap with a textile insert perfectly match the case. The 52110 caliber manufactured by IWC ensures accuracy and reliability. The Pellaton automatic winding system has been reinforced with ceramic components and provides a seven—day power reserve in two reels – more than enough even for long missions.

Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar TOP GUN Edition “Mojave Desert”

Big Pilot’s Watch and perpetual calendar are perfectly combined with each other. Four auxiliary dials and a four-digit year indicator are effectively displayed on the large dial. The date, day of the week, month, and moon phase are also easy to read. For the first time, IWC combines the Big Pilot’s Watch with a perpetual calendar with a sand-colored ceramic case, which is the hallmark of the Mojave Desert series. A muted dark brown dial and a sand-colored rubber strap with a textile insert complement the unique military design. Inspiration came from the flight suits of Navy pilots and the barren landscape of China Lake, the largest U.S. Navy land area in the Mojave Desert. The perpetual calendar is mechanically programmed to automatically recognize different lengths of months and leap years. It will work correctly without any manual adjustments until 2100. The calendar module is powered by a single overnight switching pulse supplied by an IWC 52615 calibre. Two drums with a Pellaton winding system with ceramic components provide a comfortable seven-day power reserve.

IWC Ceratanium®

This patented material is as light and unbreakable as titanium, but at the same time as hard and scratch-resistant as ceramic. Created during a complex manufacturing process, Ceratanium® is based on a special titanium alloy. In the furnace process, the components acquire not only their outstanding material properties, but also a matte black metallic color. The Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 TOP GUN Ceratanium® combines a Ceratanium® case, crown and buttons with black hands, as well as printing and luminescent material in muted white. The all-black design is complemented by a back cover made of tinted sapphire crystal. The chronograph is equipped with an IWC 69385 movement. This chronograph movement with a classic column wheel design is also equipped with a day of the week and date indicator at 3 o’clock.

Pilot’s Watch Timezoner TOP GUN Ceratanium®

TOP GUN watches, made of technically advanced materials, have been the basis of the IWC pilot watch collection since 2007. Pilot’s Watch Timezoner TOP GUN Ceratanium is the first TOP GUN model with a time zone function. By simply tapping and rotating the bezel, you can set a different time zone. The hour hand, the built-in 24-hour display, and the date will move forward or backward in one-hour increments. It also works across the entire date line and doesn’t waste a single second. The case of this all-black pilot watch is made of Ceratanium®. Developed by IWC for five years, this high-performance material combines the unique advantages of titanium and ceramics: it is lightweight and durable like titanium, while at the same time being as hard and scratch-resistant as ceramic. In addition, IWC’s latest innovative materials development is also impressive with its bright matte black finish. The ring of cities made of matte black ceramics contains the names of 24 cities, each corresponding to its own time zone. The numbers on the dial are printed in gray, and the numbers 12, 3, 6, and 9 are coated with a luminescent substance. The tactical charcoal design is complemented by a back cover made of tinted sapphire crystal and a black rubber strap with a textile insert. An 82760 caliber manufactured by IWC is working inside the 46-millimeter case. Its Pellaton winding system has been enhanced with components made from virtually wear—free ceramics and provides a power reserve of 60 hours – enough autonomy to fly through several time zones at the same time.

Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar TOP GUN Ceratanium®

Lightweight and durable like titanium, and at the same time as hard and scratch-resistant as ceramics: Ceratanium®, developed by IWC for five years, has unique properties. In addition, this innovative new material impresses with its biocompatibility and bright matte black color. These same characteristics are crucial for the Big Pilot’s Watch with the TOP GUN Ceratanium perpetual calendar. For the first time, IWC has manufactured not only a case and a crown, but also a Ceratanium® bracelet. Because this material is based on a titanium alloy, the bracelet is about 30 percent lighter than steel. As a result, it feels good on the skin and is very comfortable to wear. The black dial with grey embossing and black hands complements the all-black technical design. An IWC 52615 caliber is working inside the 46mm case. The mechanism can be admired through the tinted sapphire crystal at the back.
