Richard Mille RM 65-01 Split-Seconds Chronograph TPT

Richard Mille presents the RM 65-01 Automatic Split-Seconds Chronograph Pastel Blue Quartz TPT and the RM 65-01 Automatic Split-Seconds Chronograph Dark Yellow Quartz TPT, two new releases of his rattrapante high-frequency chronograph. The first model is presented in a case made of pastel blue quartz TPT. The second version, released in a limited edition of 120 copies, is made of dark yellow TPT quartz.

The case dimensions are 44.5 x 49.94 x 16.1 mm, water resistant up to 50 meters. Their three-component cases are framed by skeletonized dials, which stand out by using bright colors to improve readability, despite the numerous indicators.

Each color is associated with a function on the dial, thereby making it easier to read. This color code is used in conjunction with the buttons and crown. The bezel, body ring and back cover are made of TPT quartz, developed by NTPT (North Thin Ply Technology), a composite material made from several layers of quartz fibers impregnated with resins specially developed for Richard Mille and heated to 120° at a pressure of 6 bar. The result is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also extremely durable.

The large micro-jet crown of polished and satin-finished Grade 5 titanium is surrounded by chronograph buttons, also made of polished and satin-finished Grade 5 titanium. The same material and finish are used for the plate with the RM 65-01 engraving on the case. The quick start button is located at 8 o’clock. Pressing this button 125 times fully starts the drum, providing a power reserve of up to 60 hours (without a working chronograph). This practical feature was difficult to develop due to its high torque transmission. During the aging tests, the function was activated thousands of times.

Equipped with a six-column wheel, the RMAC4 calibre has a high-frequency balance with variable inertia, oscillating at a speed of 36,000 half-vibrations per hour with a measurement accuracy of up to 1/10 of a second. The function switch on the crown allows the wearer to quickly switch from the traditional factory mode (W) to setting the date (D) or the hours and minutes (H).

The RM 65-01 uses variable geometry to optimize the movement of the rotor plant. By adjusting the 3-position load, the inertia of the rotor can be adjusted to speed up the winding process in case of unhurried arm movements or slow it down during sports activities. The price of the new Richard Mille RM 65-01 Automatic Split-Seconds Chronograph Pastel Blue Quartz TPT and Dark Yellow Quartz TPT is 322,000 Swiss francs, excluding taxes.
