Bovet Recital 12

Bovet has unveiled its first watch with a metal bracelet, the new Hospital 12. Designed with optimal comfort in mind, the new bracelet is elegantly combined with a 40 x 9.8mm case made of polished Grade 5 titanium. Lightweight but durable titanium is ideal for watches as it is highly resistant to corrosion, scratches and hypoallergenic.

Bovet uses Grade 5 titanium, an alloy containing 90% titanium, 6% aluminum and 4% vanadium, which improves the finish compared to Grade 2 titanium. The bracelet features an original folding clasp with an expansion mechanism that provides adjustment up to 3 mm to compensate for minor fluctuations in wrist size during the day. The design is accentuated by polished and matte surfaces incorporating the “V” Bovet. When the folding clasp is folded, the tips of the V form an infinity symbol.

The new Récital 12 features a completely new manual movement, Calibre 13BMDR12C2, whose base plate, usually visible on the front of the watch, has been turned over. The new base plate, which resembles a three-quarter plate, has a round bridge with the inscription “Bovet” engraved on it, which makes the watch thinner. Operating at a frequency of 3 Hz (21,600 half-vibrations per hour), the new mechanism provides a power reserve of seven days (168 hours) from one reel.

From the side of the dial, you can see the balance wheel and the control body, as well as part of the gear train powered by a single drum. A new bridge has been developed for the second cage. Above the second wheel is a three-pronged seconds indicator with three blued hands.

The offset dial of our own production is decorated with a guilloched Lotus Flower pattern with 12 petals representing 12 o’clock. It is available in three colors: turquoise, navy blue or emerald green. Blued screws hold the dial in place, it is covered with eight layers of varnish. The power reserve sector completes the display of the dial. The new Bovet Récital 12 costs 29,800 Swiss francs.

The Recital 12 has been under development for more than two years, as the company’s owner, Pascal Raffi, sought to satisfy the demands of many collectors around the world for everyday watches, especially on a bracelet. “BOVET has traditionally produced watches with straps, but many collectors from all over the world have asked us for a metal bracelet,” explains company owner Pascal Raffi. “I’m very detail-oriented when it comes to comfort and design, so I knew that if we were to make a bracelet, it had to be as close to ideal as possible. My team and I have been working on these watches for two years, working through version after version to make them absolutely correct.”
