Although the Richard Mille brand is often associated with technical, high-performance watches that draw inspiration from the automotive and aviation industries, women’s watches represent an important part of the brand’s collection, as well as a significant percentage of total sales.

Richard Mille’s dedication to the feminine world is confirmed by their latest creation: RM 71-01 Automatic Tourbillon Talisman. Presented in ten different versions, featuring a wide variety of finishes, gems and decorations, this Richard Mille watch was the first to show the beauty of an automatic tourbillon movement.

The designer of the women’s collection, Cecile Guenot, explained that the watch line was born from a combination of Tribal Arts and Art Deco. In each case, it emphasizes a skeletonized mechanism. Enhanced by sparkling stones, the shape of the dials reveals two consciously different worlds, one of which is organic and the other more urban. The design of the watch required a complete conceptual approach to the creation of the mechanism, case and dial. In this version, jewelers and watchmakers worked as a single unit.

The eighth Richard Mille manufacturing mechanism, the CRMT1 caliber is skeletonized and has a cushion shape. Its thickness is 6.2 mm and it weighs only 8 grams. The mechanism includes a new ultra-thin automatic tourbillon, which has ultra-high performance. It is decorated with sparkling diamonds, mother of pearl, onyx and black sapphires. The main plate protecting the rotation of the tourbillon remains transparent. The new mechanism has a balance frequency of 28,800 pcs/hour and a power reserve of 50 hours. The calibre is equipped with a bi-directional rotor with variable geometry, which allows you to adjust the winding of the mechanism, taking into account the activity of the owner.

The three-component case (bezel, case, back cover) is made of 18k rose or white gold and is water resistant to 50 meters. 44 different stamping operations are required to create all the body components. The machine processing process requires 2 days of the master’s work. The engraving of the name “Richard Mille” takes 45 minutes.

Each 0.9mm thick dial is hand-inlaid with mother of pearl, onyx and diamonds. It demonstrates not only beauty, but also high technical skill due to the large number of different finishing operations that are performed in a limited space located on several levels. The bezel is decorated with diamonds in combinations that vary in number, shape and size of the stones according to the version.

Placing the tourbillon mechanism in a narrow and curved case was problematic, as was ensuring complete reliability in terms of timing and impact resistance. The result is a unique precious watch that is not fragile. RM 71-01 Automatic Tourbillon Talisman are available in 10 versions, each limited to 5 copies.
