Great art doesn’t just appear. It requires dedication, innovation, and skill. What really makes a masterpiece stand out from the crowd is how it pushes boundaries and opens up new horizons. Discover the new Roger Dubuis Excalibur Dr. Woo Monotourbillon.
Finding inspiration in the most unexpected places is in the DNA of Roger Dubuis. This is the reason why the House has teamed up with the URBAN ART TRIBE, world-renowned artists of urban culture who share common values, break the rules, demonstrate radical experiences and focus on the design of the future on a daily basis.

They were given access to the Roger Dubuis holy of holies, home to the brave and extravagant: the watch factory, where they were tasked with reinterpreting the legendary Excalibur Monotourbillon. Dr. Wu, a renowned tattoo artist, is the first of three friends at Home to take on this new creative challenge. Having brought their imagination to life, incredible watchmakers and a visionary artist are proud to present the new Excalibur Dr. Woo Monotourbillon.
The Roger Dubuis Excalibur Monotourbillon is a watch enhanced by careful design, reinterpreted with sophistication and elegance using modern and technical materials. The clear silhouette lines on both the body and the mechanism create a striking visual identity. Meanwhile, the bottom-up adjustment of the Caliber not only enhances the feeling of transparency and three-dimensional depth, but also allows you to see how the Roger Dubuis star freely floats above the drum. The trademark two-line pattern between the notch on the crown and the bezel, the rays of the star, the tourbillon frame, the hour mark on the flange and the hands – everything looks as if they are constantly striving for each other, but never intersect.

The RD512SQ calibre is one of the greatest expressions of watchmaking and impresses with its technical perfection. Thanks to the non-magnetic lower titanium tourbillon cage, which is twice as light as stainless steel, and the mirror-polished upper tourbillon cage made of non-magnetic cobalt chromium, the weight of the model has been reduced by 16% to achieve optimal effect. As a result, the caliber demonstrates better resistance to magnetic fields, and the power reserve is radically optimized to 72 hours, which makes it possible not to wear the watch on weekends. Such excellence is not without its reward. This dynamic aesthetic is enhanced by the Poinçon de Genève, one of the most demanding watchmaking marks, which requires hand-finishing of all watch components without exception, as well as finishing in watchmaking, such as sandblasted upper surfaces and polished corners, demonstrating the visionary approach of Roger Dubuis.

Reinterpreted for the modern era, the icon continues its ascent in the form of Excalibur Dr. Woo Monotourbillon. No matter how brave Roger Dubuis is, he always communicates with those who dare to make a difference, and Dr. Wu is one of those destructive souls. Dr. Wu has made a name for himself in the tattoo industry with his signature style; minimalistic and monochrome. Known for his exceptionally steady hand, his impeccable geometric shapes and ultra-fine lines have earned him respect among the international elite. After months of fruitful collaboration filled with awe and difficulties, worlds and horizons merged to create an inspiring watch, for which no compromises were made and no creative desires remained.

After learning that the star was a symbol as important to Dr. Wu as it was to the House, she became a guiding force throughout the collaboration. Speaking about the project and the created artwork, Dr. Wu says, “Roger Dubuis lent me his signature star to unleash my creativity and combine our two worlds into one unique masterpiece.”
In his new interpretation, Dr. Wu takes Excalibur Monotourbillon as a launching pad and re-imagines it. The special connection with space has influenced many aspects of Dr. Wu’s design. From his world, he brings minimalistic graphic symbols: the moon as a source of energy, triangles that bounce off the earth, and full circles that represent the endless connections we all have. By placing them next to each other, Dr. Wu offers a new language that is open to interpretation.

Indeed, the deep and detailed design reveals new layers and secrets at every glance. The spider is one of those details for Dr. Wu. Symbolizing strength and protection, it has been moved to a new location on the dial of each of the eight limited edition pieces, making each one a unique creation.
Other details that only the owner might like include the time traveler pattern on the back of the case, allowing for a closer connection between this unusual watch and its lucky owner.

Without shying away from difficult tasks, craftsmanship rose to new heights when master watchmakers had to apply exceptional techniques to meet the artist’s aspirations. Inspired by Dr. Wu’s game, the gold had to be metallized to engrave it on a sapphire crystal and recreate the star on the dial, revealing an elegant, carefully thought out, but spectacular design.
Moreover, the ultrathin lines were laser-etched directly onto the black PVD plate under the Gauge to reveal the artist’s cosmic design. A similar process was used on the back of the watch to embed an intricate hand-painted pattern.

Considering that not a single detail went unnoticed, the embossed strap decorated with Dr. Wu’s sacred symbols also required an expansion of boundaries. Using his technical prowess for aesthetic purposes, Roger Dubuis applied hot stamping to engrave black calfskin with a very subtle design.
An expression of incongruity and extravagance, the fruit of Dr. Wu’s creativity is placed in a 42 mm diameter case. Dr. Wu takes watchmaking to a new dimension, a dimension in which time is being reinvented. The creation of the watch allowed him to see time in a new light: “Time is the most valuable currency we have. It’s up to us to decide how to use it.”

Inspiring creative minds everywhere, Excalibur Dr. watches The Woo Monotourbillon is proof that the Roger Dubuis is and always will be the most exciting way to introduce Hyper Horology to the world, as this iconic watch, reimagined for the modern age, continues its epic ascent.
