Roger Dubuis Excalibur Huracan Performante

Focusing on those who are obsessed with pushing their own boundaries and not obeying any rules, the sports division of Lamborghini — Squadra Corse and the Roger Dubuis Manufactory decided to combine their knowledge and experience. When aspiring engineers meet virtuoso watchmakers, an adrenaline rush is inevitable, which leads to the creation of models fueled by the “energy of frenetic mechanics.” The first of these models was released on September 20, 2017. For the past year, filled with daring high-speed achievements, the spirit of Italian aesthetics has been combined with Swiss precision and mechanical craftsmanship.

Inspired by the ideas of the Lamborghini Squadra Corse and the unique aesthetics of the Huracán Performante car, the watchmakers of the Manufactory created watches with a distinctive design in the style of car racing. One of the striking features of the Excalibur Huracán Performante watch with its aggressive image is a completely new “engine”: the RD630 caliber with a balance located at an angle of 12°, which immediately evokes associations with Lamborghini engines. The watch, which has incorporated elements of the supercar’s appearance into its design, actively uses the shape of a hexagon.

This diverse geometric shape, which defines the outlines of the partner brand’s car, is widely represented in this watch in various variations. In particular, the struts of the car suspension struts are reproduced here in this form. Through the skeletonized dial of the Excalibur Huracán Performante, miniature copies of the expressive hexagon halves on the Lamborghini Huracán Performante lattice air intakes are visible.

Other decorative elements include a new crown resembling racing nuts on supercar wheels, a “tank” with two drums for storing stored energy, and a composite “spoiler” decorating skeletonized bridges. And even when viewed from the reverse side, the round rotor of the automatic mechanism evokes the design of the wheel rim of the Lamborghini Huracán family of cars. Featuring the same combination of functionality, lightness and reliability as the supercar of the same name, the Excalibur Huracán Performante features an expressive color scheme of “gray technical titanium” complemented by signature bright yellow accents.

When aspiring engineers meet virtuoso watchmakers, together they are able to create perfect harmony (Perfect Fit) at all levels. Now, these tires, which are installed on the Huracán Performante supercar, also provide a perfect fit to the wrist: an important finishing detail of the Excalibur Huracán Performante watch strap made of authentic Alcantara fabric is the inner rubber insert with the Pirelli P Zero Trofeo™ R tire tread pattern. Custom-made with the latest technology, these tires incorporate Pirelli’s century-old racing experience and make driving a real pleasure thanks to their improved performance.
