Rolex has unveiled a luxury version of one of its best diving watches, the Deepsea 136668 LB

The new Deepsea has the iconic blue and yellow gold color scheme, reminiscent of previous Submariner models, which adds a touch of nostalgia to the release. With a diameter of 44 mm, this watch carries considerable weight, especially with its heavy yellow gold construction, which adds significant weight to the wrist.

At a price of $52,100, they far exceed the cost of comparable steel models, which cost about a third of their price. However, given the solid yellow gold construction, the price is quite reasonable.

The latest model is the successor to the steel Deepsea Sea-Dweller. It retains its renowned pressure-resistant architecture, with a ceramic compression ring and a Ringlock system for the bezel. The bright blue hues of the bezel, compression ring and dial contrast sharply with the gilded gold letters on the dial and the bright yellow gold case.

In addition to the new case and dial material, Deepsea retains the same case design and proportions as the steel models. The case has a diameter of 44 mm and a thickness of 17.7 mm. Interestingly, the helium exhaust valve and the back cover are made of RLX titanium. Titanium was necessary to protect the watch from the depths, since gold is objectively a soft metal. Under high pressure, the titanium remains virtually intact, which is crucial for both the special back cover and the expertly designed helium valve.

The watch is also equipped with a Triplock screw-down crown. The massive yellow gold bracelet includes the brand’s proprietary Easylink extension system, as well as an Oysterlock safety clasp exclusive to Deepsea.

The watch is equipped with a 3235 caliber, the same movement as the steel Deepsea Sea—Dweller ref. 126660, which are equipped with an effective Chronergy trigger, an antimagnetic Parachrom spring and a power reserve of 70 hours. The watch has exceptional water resistance up to 3,900 m. The hands and indexes have a bright blue Chromalight luminescent coating, providing visibility in low light conditions.
