To celebrate one of the greatest watch innovations, the silicon trigger, Ulysse nardin draws inspiration from its shimmering colors and introduces two new models: the Blast Tourbillon Rainbow and the Lady Diver Rainbow.

Ulysse Nardin celebrates Geneva Watch Days with two new models, the LADY DIVER 39 mm and the BLAST TOURBILLON 45 mm. All three models are made in “silicon” colors. Always remaining a pioneer, in 2001 the brand became the first watch manufacturer to introduce watches with silicon trigger elements – thus the legendary Freak was born.

Since then, Ulysse Nardin has incorporated this semi-metal into several of its mechanisms, including the UN-172 caliber BLAST Tourbillon and the UN-816 caliber LADY DIVER. Inspired by the shimmering colors of this revolutionary material, the frames of the two new models are decorated with purple, green, blue and pink precious stones that sparkle in the sun, creating a rainbow effect.

The BLAST model undoubtedly lives up to its name. The skeletonized dial with the letter “X” in an impressive 45mm case with a platinum micro-rotor at 12 o’clock cannot be called traditional. To add extravagance to the look of the model, the bezel and indexes of the BLAST RAINBOW watch are decorated with a total of 50 rubies and sapphire baguette stones, which makes this watch sexy and spectacular on any wrist.

Lady Diver Rainbow

The LADY DIVER RAINBOW model – in black or white – is a new generation of the model introduced in 2019, but now the watch is complemented by bright decorative touches. Forty stones (rubies, aquamarines, topazes, garnets and sapphires) make up the set on the concave unidirectional bezel of the new watch, shimmering even in the depths of the sea. Eleven diamonds serving as indexes enhance the effect, giving elegance to this watch from the divers’ collection.

The young and sporty LADY DIVER RAINBOW 39mm, water resistant to 300 meters, is the epitome of a practical watch designed to reach the depths of the world’s oceans with beauty, grace and the highest functionality. The UN816 self-winding movement with silicon technology is the beating heart of all DIVER watches, tracking hours, minutes, seconds and date. Both models of the LADY DIVER RAINBOW are released in limited collections of 300 copies, equipped with a rubber strap in white or black, respectively. The price is 12’900 CHF.

Silicium révolution

Since the early 2000s, silicon has become the most promising material in watchmaking. Dark gray in color with bluish metallic reflections in its raw state, silicon has exceptional properties: it is absolutely not susceptible to magnetization, light and elastic, and does not deform. Silicon’s high corrosion resistance and durability do not change over time. It does not require lubrication due to the silicon dioxide layer, which hardens and stabilizes the parts, making them insensitive to temperature fluctuations. Therefore, Ulysse Nardin uses silicon to manufacture triggers in its watches, including a balance spring.
