The RM 88 tourbillon automatic movement is a highly technical creation with excellent aesthetic qualities, which took the company three years to develop. Each of its decorative elements is inspired by the joyful world of Smiley: a blooming flower, a radiant sun, a blooming cactus, a juicy pineapple, a pink flamingo, a bright rainbow – a luxurious festive cocktail in a glass in the neon pop style, which is best enjoyed in small sips.

GRADE 5 TITANIUM BOARD AND BRIDGES
The board is made of Grade 5 titanium with micro-jet treatment and PVD coating, which gives the board and axles maximum rigidity, and their surfaces perfect smoothness – a necessary condition for the perfect operation of the wheel drive.
Grade 5 titanium is a biocompatible alloy characterized by excellent corrosion resistance and increased strength, which creates ideal conditions for the functioning of the wheel system.
The alloy consists of 90% Grade 5 titanium, 6% aluminum and 4% vanadium. This composition gives the alloy improved mechanical properties, due to which it is widely used in the aerospace industry and in the automotive industry.
The skeletonized board and bridges have passed a full cycle of intensive tests, which allowed optimizing their load resistance.

SMILEY
The image of a yellow gold smiley face with micro-jet treatment and miniature painting design dominates the composition. It is placed on the transmission bridge made of ARCAP® micro-jet material with polished and smoothed edges. Echoing the rainbow pattern, it is distinguished by muted tones due to the hand-applied varnish, which forms a contrast with the anthracite rhodium coating.
The craftsmen made every effort to ensure that the decoration of the composition was impeccable, even in the smallest details. The cocktail glass is made of four components, each of which is made of gold. An umbrella, an olive (1.7 mm high), a corrugated straw with a diameter of 0.4 mm – everything is polished, as well as the glass itself weighing only 0.4 g. Its base has a micro-jet treatment resembling pieces of ice. The golden flower on top is polished to a mirror-like shine, and its petals are satin-finished and covered with rhodium. The pink flamingo, weighing 0.2 g in red gold, has also undergone a series of finishing operations: its base has a micro-jet treatment, the eye is made using the smallest existing handle, and the image of grass and water is polished. His wings are also polished, and his plumage is outlined by the point of a Degussit grindstone. The bird figurine is covered with metallic pink PVD coating, and the beak is painted black with a tassel.

Every detail is literally brought to perfection: leaves with green PVD coating, pineapple with micro-jet treatment and polishing, cactus spines made of yellow gold with micro-jet treatment, individually polished before applying PVD coating, sun made of gold with micro-jet treatment with polished rays. In accordance with watchmaking traditions, all finishing operations in the RM 88 model are performed manually.

BALANCED BALANCE WITH VARIABLE INERTIA
This type of balance is a highly innovative solution. It guarantees the watch’s high resistance to mechanical influences and prevents possible negative consequences of disassembly and assembly of the mechanism, which has a positive effect on the accuracy of the movement in the long term.
Instead of a thermometer, four adjustment weights are used to adjust the accuracy of the stroke, which are fixed directly on the rim of the balance and allow you to adjust repeatedly and more precisely.

CASE MADE OF WHITE ATZ CERAMIC AND RED GOLD
The design and workmanship of this model reflect a fundamentally new conceptual approach to the development of the mechanism, case and dial, ensuring compliance with extremely strict requirements and a harmonious combination of all components as a whole. For example, there is no housing ring in this model: the mechanism is mounted on rubber supports (ISO SW) fixed with titanium screws.
The bezel and back cover are made of white ceramic ATZ. These ceramics are based on tubes of powdered aluminum oxide filled at a pressure of about 2000 bar. Injection molding under high pressure increases the strength of the material by 20-30% and reduces its porosity to an absolute minimum. ATZ ceramics are characterized by high scratch resistance (1400 on the Vickers scale) and color consistency. It is one of the hardest materials in the world after diamond. To obtain a flawlessly executed bezel with a complex curved shape and its satin finish, long-term machining using diamond cutters is required.
The case ring is made of 18K 5N red gold.
The three-piece housing retains its water resistance at a depth of up to 50 meters thanks to two circular nitrile gaskets. The case is assembled using 12 screws with Grade 5 titanium flutes and 316L stainless steel wear-resistant washers.
