With the release of Aperto 1, which means “Open” in Italian, Bovet and Pininfarina present a modern take on this traditional design ethic. The exciting new watches from the houses of Bovet and Pininfarina combine the traditional art of skeletonization and exquisite finishes using innovative materials and futuristic design. In addition, the Bovet Aperto 1 is equipped with a completely new system that makes replacing the watch strap simple and easy.

Bovet Aperto 1 is a masterpiece of mechanical watchmaking that reinterprets the traditions of the delicate, technical and aesthetic role of the skeleton. It signals a bold new approach to the future of skeletonized fine watchmaking. Going beyond the mundane, the watch continues to showcase the intricate dance of gears and mechanics, while adding a new ingredient – the highest versatility.

Thanks to the bold design developed by Pininfarina, the Aperto 1 organically combines the past, present and future. Extremely lightweight, thanks to the Grade 5 titanium case and the comfortable size (42 mm), the Aperto 1 fits comfortably on your wrist. Drawing inspiration from Pininfarina’s extensive repertoire, including sports cars, yachts, airplanes, architecture and furniture, the Aperto 1 exudes the perfect balance of elegance, craftsmanship and functionality combined with an energetic sporty character. In Aperto 1, time is revealed in its purest and most modern form.

The Bovet Aperto 1 is equipped with a completely new hand-wound openwork mechanism. Everything extraneous has been removed in it; its bridges and plates are connected in the center of the mechanism. Thanks to the sapphire glasses on both sides, you can see the refined finish of the Caliber.

The Aperto 1 is equipped with a 42 mm titanium case. The mechanism itself is coated with tantalum. Gray shades emphasize the advanced architecture. All the components of the mechanism are manufactured at the Bovet factory, skeletonized and brought to perfection by hand. The plates and bridges require at least 10 hours of manual processing. The methods used include: PVD or CVD coating (depending on the color); sandblasting (the task is not to deform the components and maintain grain uniformity); grain size of the sides; polishing chamfers; polishing stone chisels and screws; pearl, circular Geneva waves; polishing and chamfering.

The highest level of craftsmanship is required from dedicated Bovet craftsmen, as the parts of the mechanism are coated before assembly. Special care must be taken not to damage the coatings. One slip of the tool during assembly and the part can be thrown away.

Using a completely new system created specifically for the Aperto 1, the wearer can replace the straps in just a few seconds by simply pressing the buttons and inserting the replacement strap.

The Pininfarina name is characterized by its rich history, excellence in design and craftsmanship. The company has been developing engineering products for over 90 years. Bovet repeats this spirit in watchmaking with generations of artisans over its 200-year history, creating incredible, meticulously detailed watchmaking masterpieces.

The collaboration with the exclusive design house and Bovet began in 2010, when Bovet owner Pascal Raffi met for the first time with Paolo Pininfarina, Chairman of the Board of Pininfarina. They soon realized how much their companies had in common, especially their love of superbly designed, exquisite mechanical objects.

In the same year, a collaboration was born, which resulted in several unique Bovet models, including Cambiano, Sergio, Ottanta and Ottantasei. The mutual vision and experience of the companies become evident in all aspects of cooperation. The unique skills of both houses led to the creation of a unique watch.
